Northern Virginia's chapter of the VA Solidarity Economy Network – NOVASEN – continues to grow, expand networks, and make steps toward building a solidarity economy in Northern Virginia.

Officially launched at the second Democratizing NOVA Summit in April 2025, NOVASEN comprises worker-cooperative owners, educators, and community members committed to building a just and democratic regional economy that works for the benefit of  Northern Virginia's working communities.  In less than a year, NOVASEN has launched a book club, a housing justice task force, as well as an online decision-making platform for participants in Virginia's solidarity economy.

Translating literally to "we decide" in Catalan, Decidim is a free and open digital platform for citizen participation. In the fall of 2025, NOVASEN members and the School of Us led a story swap Arlington Mill Community Center and convened a Solidarity Economy Community Potluck at the Clarendon Presbyterian Church topics such as mutual aid, co-governance, worker cooperatives, a people-centered digital economy and more with our friends and allies at VOICE, Casa Marisol, Everyday Canvassing, and more.

NOVASEN members have also been active in supporting local and regional organizing efforts like "VOICE's Homes for All," "ICE Out of Alexandria," and Free DC.
