General Body Meeting Agenda

Education Campaign report   [17:30 - 17:40]

  1. Actionables

    1. Brochure – Can we nail down our top 4 values?

    2. Talks – What about starting with Clarendon Presbyterian?

    3. SECOSOL partnership status – planned meeting in Fredericksburg (Kei)

      1. My two cents: NOVASEN should move ahead with our own work and partner later with SECOSOL if they are interested.

Rachel takes the spotlight! [17:40 - 17:55]

Tell us about your work!

RETREAT Time! [17:55 - 18:15]

  1. VASEN Retreat

    1. SETTLE ON A WEEKEND in July

      1. I can do any weekend in July, but preferably not the 18th.

      2. NOTE: I think it's important to take the Friday as well. We could take Friday or Sunday for specifically NOVASEN, depending on what folks think is best.

    2. Airbnb possibility: $1k/night, sleeps 12.  https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1374738547714691269?check_in=2026-07-09&check_out=2026-07-12&guests=1&adults=12&s=67&unique_share_id=fe762e8f-e7bc-402d-959f-20d081a2f589

      1. Bedrooms: Jeff and Roxanne, Johanna and Dani, Eleanor and Kei or Caroline and Kei, Sahnun, RoseAnn, -- maybe Nairuti?

      2. Full VASEN retreat is in a barn – May be HOT! We may end up in our AirBnB most of the time.

    3. Greater Washington Community Foundation interested in helping fund the retreat. Matt is point person.

Education Campaign collab [18:15 - 18:35]

  1. VASEN Network Meeting 4/7/26

    1. SUMMARY: We began by discussing this year's VASEN budget and worked backwards to 1) The Retreat, 2) Popular Education Campaign and strategy, and 3) VASEN Dinners. To make a long story short, we arrived at a plan to leverage the retreat to nail down our strategic plan for popular education statewide, develop a document/guideline reflecting that strategy, and then distribute that material to VASEN dinner fund recipients, who will have some expectation to implement some aspect of popular ed at the dinner. Kei should be able to give you more details tomorrow evening.

    2. In attendance: Eleanor, Dilcia, Kei, and Matt. Strong interest to make education strategy the focus of the VASEN meeting (priority on consciousness raising)

    3. VASEN will marshal some funds to pay Eleanor to help organize the VASEN aspect of the retreat.

    4. SECOSOL will plan in person (small) VASEN network meeting in Fredericksburg next month.
