- This proposal is a call to help for the organizers involved in immigration navigation, this includes navigating community members who are facing deportation, are being persecuted, are in detention, or need emergency guidance on their immigration case.
- As we all know, the immigration resources available in Virginia are scarce and the organizations are too overwhelmed or too focused on only accepting certain cases.
- The community's call for help comes from deportation orders being issued due to issues such as a change in address, a typo or error in USCIS database, a missed audience, lack of navigation when filling out USCIS forms, and the prevalence of scammers.
- This proposal will be a place for documenting the stories along with the needs of the community and some of the improvements we have seen.
- Along with this proposition, I would like to amend it in the future to include a form of solidarity economy called the time bank. Where we as community members donate our time to another community member and accompany them to courts, hearings, or even dropping off their kids to school, etc.
- Please comment on this if you are interested in documenting about your own experiences with the immigration legal system in Northern Virginia
